Sixth-Grade Recap

We’ve had a pretty busy sixth-grade year of homeschooling and it’s not over yet. I’ll explain more in my next post, but we won’t be done with sixth-grade until mid-October. However, we are starting a few 7th Grade activities, so I wanted to recap the year.

“The only true law is that which leads to freedom,” Jonathan said. “There is no other.” – Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

There were so many great experiences and I was able to live by the law that leads to freedom!

In November 2017, I started a new job with Automattic, Inc., as a WordPress.com Happiness Engineer. After years as a freelancer, I am able to work from home, doing what I love for a company that I genuinely support and like. There is nothing better than that.

And being a part of a distributed workforce, I have been able to worry less about our finances, to focus more on the things I enjoy, and to be the mom and wife that I want to be.

Sixth-Grade was a year of firsts for us!

This was the first time she

  • went sleep-away camp
  • took a hot-air-ballon ride with my husband
  • did indoor skydiving.
  • experienced shattered friendship.
  • was without me for longer than a day as I went to Mexico without the fam for a week for work
  • was without her dad for more than 2 days.
  • went roller skating
  • sprained her ankle
  • completed a whole math curriculum (Saxon 7/6)
  • got Braces and Bras
  • she is dealing with Hormones and Acne
