Sixth-Grade Recap

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We’ve had a pretty busy sixth-grade year of homeschooling and it’s not over yet. In fact, won’t be done with sixth-grade until mid-October. However, we are starting a few 7th Grade activities, so I wanted to recap the year.

“The only true law is that which leads to freedom,” Jonathan said. “There is no other.”

Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

There were so many great experiences and I was able to live by the law that leads to freedom!

In November 2017, I started a new job with Automattic, Inc., as a WordPress.com Happiness Engineer. After years as a freelancer, I am able to work from home, doing what I love for a company that I genuinely support and like. There is nothing better than that.

And being a part of a distributed workforce, I have been able to worry less about our finances, to focus more on the things I enjoy, and to be the mom and wife that I want to be.

Sixth-Grade was a year of firsts for us!

This was the first time The Gerg

  • went to sleep-away camp
  • rode in a hot-air-ballon ride with my husband
  • did indoor skydiving.
  • experienced shattered friendship.
  • was without me for longer than a day as I went to Mexico without the family for a week for work
  • was without their dad for more than 2 days.
  • went roller skating
  • sprained their ankle
  • completed a whole math curriculum (Saxon 7/6)
  • got Braces and Bras
  • they are dealing with Hormones and Acne
